Kung Fu and the Myth of Mixed Martial Arts
Ku Yu Shen: Duel at Mount Tai Shan

His eyes darting side to side, Master Kou Yu Shen of the WujiQuan Shih and keeper of the Han Dynasty secrets, with the anticipation born of the nearness of the death, readies himself against three of the most feared masters of Shansi, Fujien, and Hunan provinces.

First, to his left is the famous master Han Getsu, master of the Ten Hands technique of the Southern Fujien region, whose speed with hands and fingers is without peer. Second, to his front is Master Cheng Ru Yuan, the greatest wrestler of the royal court in Beijing, and finally on his right flank, Master Chen Zhang Jiao famous for his Tornado Kicks and fatal Red Dragon Kicks.

Han Getsu being the most impetuous of the three, exploded forward with his Eagle Talon grasping technique, thinking to immediately get fame for bringing down the immortal Kou Yu Shen with his flesh tearing grip and sudden attack. Han suddenly responded with steps using his Ji Bao Bu method of footwork. First he went straight for Han''s attack, and as if by magic he was instantly behind Master Han, performing Rooster Climbing and Crossing attack.

In an instant Han suffered an irrecoverable defeat. Cheng and Chen, astounded by the speed of Han''s defeat, attacked simultaneously: Cheng below, to freeze Kou Shen Yu''s footwork; and Chen with his famous and deadly Coiled Dragon kick, a fatal kick to the upper body.

Yu Shen, whose mind never stops, adjusted his shape into bear and dragon shape, maintained his position while at the same time allowing the Coiled Dragon kick to glide harmlessly away from his body. Kou advanced, his right arm in ward off, flashing to the side. Chen fell clumsily on the neck and shoulders, while at the same time Kou used Buddha Pounding and Clouds and Meteor Fist to speedily repel the force of Cheng's attack. Turning to Chen Zhang Jiao, Kou Yu Shen hit both his Ming Men and Shang Shen points with his fingers leaving Chen lifeless.

Cheng, being well experienced was still fighting on bravely, but now injured and very cautious as a result of his injury, acted too tentatively to remain a threat. Yu Shen advanced with Double Splitting, thus breaking through all of Cheng's defenses and finished him by disabling his arm at the shoulder and elbow using chin-na (grappling technique). Thus of the three only Han and Cheng survived, but neither of them could ever practice their art again as their injuries were severe. In an act of humility, Han and Cheng thanked Kou Yu Shen for sparing their lives and went their way never to challenge Yu Shen again.
