Martial Arts Etiquette
  1. Show proper respect for all senior ranks.
  2. No uncontrolled talk in the studio area.
  3. Bowing as a ritual sign of respect entering and leaving, starting and ending, approaching and leaving.
    1. Entering and leaving: studio or campus.
    2. Beginning and ending martial arts activities; drill, sparring, class.
    3. As an acknowledgment of a MASTER GRADE (4th degree black belt or above)
  4. Stand at attention when a Master Grade (4th degree black belt or above) enters a room.
  5. No horseplay.
  6. Observe good hygiene.
  7. Keep fingernails and toenails cut short.
  8. Do not wear jewelry in class.
  9. Do not attend class sick with cold or flu.
  10. Work hard but avoid dangerous overexertion.
  11. Show respect for the training hall; keep it clean.
  12. Address instructors as Sir or their Title. (Assistant Instructor, Instructor, professor, etc.)
  13. Be in proper uniform in classroom area.
  14. Keep emotions under control.
    1. Never use excessive force in sparring and drills.
  15. Observe restraint and control techniques and do not injure a fellow student
  16. No unauthorized sparring or challenges.
  17. All questions should be respectful and appropriate.
  18. Observe the chain of command (rank system).
