Earlier in my life, I was blessed with opportunities to study martial arts under two very well known teachers. The first was Kenneth Funakoshi (yes, the grandson of Gichin). Of course, this style was Shotokan and the training was very strict. Precision of movement and powerful delivery of technique was demanded, as was complete attention during class. The second was Roy Kurban (former multi-year fighting champion). This style was Tae Kwon Do. Emphasis on fast, accurate, and powerful techniques were regular disciplines instilled during class.

One cannot properly express in words the admiration and respect developed for teachers such as these. After training for several years with each, life's circumstances dictated a stoppage of my martial arts studies.

I tried on one occasion a few years ago, locating a teacher to again begin my journey, but found myself very disappointed with the quality of instruction being provided.

Recently, I have experienced the honor of finding Dr. Harkins' Wujido Martial Arts Institute. Here, I have again found a teacher who instills the strict disciplines that demand pure adherence to correct training, precision of movement, powerful technique, and personal character development.

The discovery of Wujido has uncovered much more than I knew how to seek. Specifically, the integrated system of Shaolin Kung Fu (5 animals) taught at Wujido procdes a completely balanced system that incorporates both "hard" and "soft" style techniques. This fulfills inclusive aspects of Health & Fitness as well as Self-Defense.

Any true student of martial arts knows and understands there is much more to their studies than combat. Wujido unlocks and exposes students to material and techniques long treasured and preserved within Chinese Kung Fu. Dr. Harkins personally instructs and demonstrates various techniques (position, movement, breathing, balance, and other aspects I would be best not further describing) that afford his students the ability to acheive superior execution and strength.

Personally, longevity of healthy life is very important to me. By following instructions provided by wise martial arts masters (such as Dr. Harkins, Kenneth Funakoshi, and Roy Kurban) I have the confidence of knowing my path is correctly set. Because of this, my training at Wujido is valued at a level that perhaps could only be stated as "priceless".

My gratitude and respect for Dr. Harkins can only be expressed via dedicated training according to his techniques. This, I believe, will honor him and the masters who taught before him. In this way, I may achieve my goals of Health, Confidence, and Compassion for my fellow mankind.

Please understand that I have only begun to describe the opportunities offered at Wujido. A complete nutritional knowledge is also contained within the doors of this school, as well as several other styles of training (Tai Chi, Yoga, Wujiquan). I plan to enjoy many years of benefits from the investments I make in the wisdom made available though Dr. Harkins.
